Svalbard Trek took their first victory of the season at the Tour d'Aigle. Although their current team is not suspected to last long past this season, it has always been a target of the team to win all the Swiss Races around their training base in the Swiss canton of Vaud.
Kevin Noach was sent up the road in order to monitor the breakaway. They still lead as they approached the Berneuse rocks but the main group were fast approaching. Noach sat up and waited for his team captain to attack so he could help as much as possible. Despite several groups forming over the top of the final climb, most of the main contenders came back together again on the long descent. With Noach, Nightingale and Sande all in the lead group, we were able to chase down all the attacks in the last few kilometres.
Despite Nightingale attempting to break free on several occasions he could not cling on for the win and watched helplessly as the final sprint was set up. Sande managed to launch his sprint with 150m to go and held on as the rest of the leading pack began to close in on him.
A hugely successful outing for Trek as they approach the division 9 classic Entrecasteaux GP and they hope to take a first victory at a classic
